New journals and one new access point

SciTech recently started an electronic subscription to the British Journal of Pharmacology. You can access the title via the Library's Electronic Resources Gateway at http://micro189.lib3.hawaii.edu/ezproxy/details.php?dbId=53517

The following titles are now available online via Informaworld, electronic home of Taylor & Francis journals:

• Asia Pacific Journal of Anthropology
• Australian Historical Studies
• Studies in Science Education

Also, 2008+ issues of the journal Economic Botany are now available via SpringerLink, electronic home of Springer journals. This journal was previously available via BioOne but was transferred to Springer this year. You can still access issues from 2002-2007 via the BioOne version.

ScienceDirect outage this weekend

ScienceDirect, the online home of Elsevier journals, will be down for a scheduled upgrade this weekend. The outage is currently scheduled to start Friday, Aug. 1, at 11:30 p.m. HST and last till Saturday, Aug. 2, 7:30 p.m. HST. This of course is an estimate, so ScienceDirect may come back sooner, or if they run into problems, take longer to return.

The University of Hawaii at Manoa currently has access to approximately 2,000 journals via ScienceDirect.

Korean database trials

oops, I've been delinquent in updating. The two biggest recent additions are trials for two new Korean databases

Both trials run through Oct. 31, 2008. You must use Internet Explorer to access these databases.

Blackwell, Wiley journals down this weekend

Both Blackwell Synergy and Wiley Interscience, the journal delivery interfaces for Blackwell and Wiley titles, respectively, will be down this weekend. The intended schedule for the outages are as follows:

• Today, 3 p.m. HST: Blackwell Synergy goes down
• Tonight, 11 p.m. HST: Wiley Interscience goes offline
• Sunday, 3 p.m. HST: Wiley Interscience returns, with Blackwell journals now incorporated

The reason for the outage is Wiley bought Blackwell Publishing last year, and this weekend are migrating all Blackwell journal content to the Wiley platform.

The UH Manoa Library has access to nearly 1,000 journal titles via Blackwell and Wiley combined.

Homeland Security Digital Library (HSDL)

You can now access the Homeland Security Digital Library via http://micro189.lib3.hawaii.edu/ezproxy/details.php?dbId=53472. From the HSDL site:

These include federal, state, tribal, and local government agencies, professional organizations, think tanks, academic institutions, and international governing bodies. American Sociological Association journals

We just activated our online access to the journals from the American Sociological Association. You can now access the following titles online:

International Financial Statistics Online
